Rocky D No Longer for Football?

RockyD.jpgReceived from the City of Sault Ste. Marie Community Services Division, while not entirely accurate - sad news for sure that the city couldn’t set the field up for multiple sports to maximize the field’s usage:

Rocky DiPietro Field has traditionally been categorized as a football field as it was extensively used by High School Football, Sabercats, Steelers, Minor Football and Touch Football. Over the last several years football’s usage of the Rocky DiPietro Field has declined substantially. High School use of the field has been decreasing yearly since the Boards Turf field came into play. In the fall of 2015 there were only 3 High School Football games and no Touch Football games played at the Rocky DiPietro field.

Interest has been expressed by other sport disciplines for fall usage of this field. Therefore, the 2016 fall field bookings for Rocky DiPietro field have been made available to community groups, leagues and teams from other sport disciplines. The field will be relined and grass cut to accommodate the new fall usage and interest of other sports other than football.
